Spokane is the second largest city in Washington state, the third largest city in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, the metropolitan centre of the Inland Northwest, is located on the east side of Washington state, and has a population of 450,000. Located 270 miles east of Seattle (4 hour drive) and 20 miles west of the Idaho border.

Cost of Living

Financial experts believe that the cost of living in Spokane is 25% less than living in Seattle. SCEL students even realize a bigger savings when they consider that a full homestay in Spokane is $550 a month when a student in Seattle would be paying $850 a month.

Nature/Outdoor Activities

With a four-season climate and year-round recreation, the Spokane area is truly the outdoor enthusiast’s playground. There are countless lakes, 4 major rivers, 13 ski areas, numerous hiking & biking trails. Activities include; skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, golfing, fishing, rafting, mountaineering, climbing, sports, walking, biking, horseback riding.
